My Teaching Philosophy Statement:I am committed to establishing a positive classroom environment where all students are respected and feel safe to share their ideas. I want every student to feel comfortable with me and their classmates so that we can partake in meaningful academic discussions. Meeting the needs of every student is my top priority. I want to create meaningful lesson that motivate and engage students into thinking critically and independently. Classroom Expectations/Behavior Consequences The following are the five standard classroom rules that students are expected to follow: 1. Respect yourself and others. 2. Follow teacher directions the first time they are given. 3. Be on time and in your seat. 4. Bring your materials to class every day. 5. Participate and ask questions. The following consequences will be implemented for violation of class rules:
First down: warning, redirection of behavior (Parent phone call home)
Second down: parent phone call home, student conference, or parent conference.
Third down: after school detention
Fourth down: office referral
ANY violent/disrespectful behavior, or behavior harmful to the student or others will result in IMMEDIATE referral to the office. Students should also be rewarded for positive behaviors. I will email/phone call home when I see my students doing exceptional things! :) Evaluating Student Progress The grading scale for our class is as follows: ·A 90-100 ·B 80-89 ·C 70-79 ·F Below 70
Grades will be calculated by the following: ·40% - Major Grades (tests, projects, lengthy assignments, etc.) · 60% - Daily Work (classwork, labs, homework, etc.) Each grading period will have a minimum of 10 grades and at least 2 grades for each of the two above categories.
